Grade Repair and RCBOE MIDDLE SCHOOL (6-8) PROMOTION POLICY

Grade Repair and RCBOE MIDDLE SCHOOL (6-8) PROMOTION POLICY

Dear Tutt Family,

The second semester of the 2016-2017 school year has begun.  Below I am sharing with you the RCBOE middle school promotion policy.  It is not too late for struggling students to repair their grades and successfully move on to the next step in their academic careers. Students may attend Saturday School from 9:00 – 12:00, Sun Rise Academy Monday – Thursday from 8:30 – 9:00, or may be enrolled in the Flexible Learning Program (FLP) during their connections period for math assistance. Please encourage your students to take advantage of these opportunities to maximize their educational potential.

RCBOE MIDDLE SCHOOL (6-8) PROMOTION POLICY

A student shall be promoted when, in the professional judgment of the teacher/s and the principal and other professional school staff, he/she has successfully mastered the identified instructional standards of Georgia Public Schools and Richmond County Board of Education.

State Promotion Requirements

No eighth grade student shall be promoted to the ninth grade that does not achieve grade level on the state-adopted assessment and meet the local promotion standards and criteria established by The Richmond County Board of Education.*

Additional Richmond County Promotion Requirements

To meet promotion requirements students in grades six-eighth must:

  1. a) Obtain a passing grade on the report card in Mathematics and Language Arts
  2. b) Obtain a passing grade on the report card in either Social Studies or Science
  3. c) Obtain a passing average in at least half of all connections courses.

Respectfully Yours,
